Ramone Diggs is a recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music under the direction of department head Mikael Eliasen (and vocal teacher Patricia McCaffrey). Last Season, Mr. Diggs played the role of Moyse in the U.S. premiere of Toussaint Before the Spirts for Boston Modern Opera Project. He also portrayed Remendado in Carmen at the Opera Company of Philadelphia and depicted Gonsalve in L’Heure Espagnole and Le Couf in Les Mamelle de Tirésias for the Curtis Opera Theatre. Mr. Diggs performed in The Opera Company of Philadelphia’s production of La Pèrichole, the role of the First Judge, which featured, famed opera singer Denyce Graves. He has also been seen as Peter in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess for the Opera Company of Philadelphia and Sallem in The Rake’s Progress for the Curtis Opera Theatre. As a winner of the 2001 Marilyn Horne Foundation Award Competition, Mr. Diggs gave his New York and Los Angeles recital debuts last spring. In conjunction with his recital work, he was honored with the opportunity to perform the Liszt’s Tre sonetti Di Petrarca with renowned accompanist Warren Jones. Mr. Diggs has also appeared as Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, and Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues des Carmelites. He repeated his performance of Ernesto at The Music Academy of the West, in Santa Barbara, California. Mr. Diggs has also participated in Master Classes with such famed artists as Marilyn Horne, Thomas Hampson, Warren Jones, Tom Krause, and Peter Schreier. He has been a winner of the Mario Lanza Competition in Philadelphia, and The National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in Texas.
