performersVICTOR ROBERTSON (Tenor)

Along with his second Richard Tucker Award nomination, Victor Ryan Robertson received rave reviews as Rodolfo in Francesca Zambello's production of Puccini's La Boheme at The Royal Albert Hall in London last winter. "...the American Victor Robertson, one of those tenors who sounds happier the higher he goes. Getting him off the high C's was the only problem."- Opera " Victor Robertson, as Rodolfo, is suitably, able to scale the heights and sustain his phrases without it ever sounding too difficult."- London Times. In Los Angeles, Victor received critical acclaim again as Rodolfo for Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of La Boheme at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, which earned him the coveted 2005 Ovation Award. Recent engagements include Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the Detroit Opera, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet with the Spoleto Festival and The Atlanta Opera, the title role in Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann at Dallas Opera, Edgardo in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at Tri-Cities Opera, where he made his debut as Nemorino in Donizetti's Elsir D'amore. He most recently received acclaim for a concert with the Richard Tucker Foundation and the Cleveland Opera called Night of the Rising Stars. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer said, “. . .Alfredo in the Traviata excerpt was tenor Victor Ryan Robertson, who was buoyant here and even better in the Rigoletto quartet and especially in Kleinzach! His voice is fresh, his personality alive.” Engagements for the 2007-2008 season and beyond include his debut with the Los Angeles Opera as Sportin’ Life in Porgy and Bess, a role he will reprise with the Dallas Opera in 2008; Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere with PORT Opera Festival, and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with Opera Carolina, Prunier in La Rondine with Detroit Opera, and Ramiro in La Cenerentola with Spoleto Festival.
